Woking and Sam Beare Hospice
Enhancing Patient Care Through Technology
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Workstation On Wheels
Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care is a charity dedicated to providing holistic care for patients with complex, life-limiting and terminal illnesses. The hospice cares for approximately 2,000 patients every year, with their own inpatient unit to deliver a 24/7 service across two wings.
To enhance their services, the hospice decided to shift from paper based records and transition to the EMiS platform (EPR – Electronic Patient Records).
This change aims to enable quicker and more efficient retrieval of patient information, streamline workflows, and improve coordination amongst care givers.
To support this transition, the hospice required new computer on wheels carts, as their existing trolleys were not compatible with the new digital system. Dalen Healthcare was approached to help bring this vision to life.

Key Project Criteria
- Each medical cart required effective cable management for the USB Wi-Fi extension cable to ensure a strong signal throughout the building.
- Custom-sized enclosure to accommodate the iGel IT hardware that the hospice uses.
- Medical cart aesthetic should represent the organisation’s purple branding.
- Kerbside to bedside delivery with support on the day of installation to onboard with IT equipment.

Our Solution
After discussions with the hospice’s IT Manager, Dalen Healthcare decided that our Workstation on Wheels would be the ideal solution to best meet the client’s needs.
This mobile, battery-powered PC cart allows for access to IT systems at the bedside, and its seamless integration supports hospice healthcare providers with tasks like EPR data input & collection and electronic observations.
Before installation, we conducted a demo session on-site to give the hospice team a chance to test the solution and request any adjustments if needed. This session also helped verify the integration of their desired IT equipment.
Medical cart aesthetic should represent the organisation’s purple branding
The team approved, and we supplied a number of Workstation on Wheels carts with a custom purple finish – two per wing.
Our team was also on-site to help with delivery, set-up and IT integration.
